JTI Make It Bright 2025 Challenge

1. Introduction

Make It Bright is a challenge with the possibility to win a global internship. The Challenge shall take place from November 3rd, 2025, to December 31st, 2025, via the Make It Bright Challenge Instagram page available at www.instagram.com/makeitbrightchallenge.

Aim of the Challenge

  • To offer participants (21-27 years old) an experience valuable for their future professional development (entrepreneurial skills, creativity skills, etc.).
  • To offer participants (21-27 years old) an opportunity to be selected for an internship with JTI and/or its affiliates.
  • Not to promote or advertise JTI's brands or products.

No participation fee or purchase is required.

The Challenge is organized by JT International SA (JTI), with registered address at 8 Rue Kazem-Radjavi, 1202 Geneva, Switzerland, and with the collaboration of its affiliates. JTI shall also include its affiliates. JTI reserves the right to subcontract part of the organization of the Challenge to a third party.

2. Who Can Join?

The Challenge is intended for participants satisfying the conditions below and providing proof of eligibility.

A Participant shall refer to any applicant who opens an account with the Platform.

Participating Countries

The final list of the participating countries will be accessible at the Platform as from the Starting Date (as defined below). Applicants shall only apply for the country in which they live and have a valid work permit. Once the application to the Challenge has been submitted, Participants cannot change the country in which they have registered for, for whatever reason.

Age & Studies

Applicants must be at least twenty one (21) years of age and if they are currently studying, they will have to be enrolled in their last years of studies upon submission of the registration application to the Challenge.

Employment Status

Applicants should not yet have acquired more than one (1) year of full-time employment. Internships, apprenticeships, summer job experiences and self-employment do not account into full-time employment.

Relation to JTI and/or its Affiliates and/or Service Provider

At any time during the Challenge, Participants cannot be current or past employees but can be trainees and/or interns.

Knowledge of English Language and Travelling

Applicants should have a high level of English and shall be able to understand, read, write and communicate in English without difficulties. Applicants should be open to and available for global travel (either short-term or long-term) as may be required during the Challenge.

Instagram Account

There is only one (1) entry per person per Challenge. An account is individual and not transferable. A Participant cannot create an account on the Platform on behalf of a third party nor use an account of another Participant. All Participants must have a valid e-mail address.

3. The Schedule and the Steps of the Challenge

The Challenge will start on November 3rd, 2025, with the opening of the registration process and will end on December 31st, 2025, as per detailed below.

Note: Every time and date defined in the Governing Rules is expressed in the Geneva, Switzerland time zone (GMT +1). Where necessary, JTI may alter the duration of the Challenge as well as start date, finish date and duration of the steps of the Challenge, which will be conveyed to Participants.

The Challenge consists of 3 main steps:

Step 1: The Challenge

The registration opens on November 3rd and closes on December 31st as detailed above. For their registration to the Challenge, the Participant must have a personal Instagram account and when registering for the Challenge must provide the following mandatory information:

  • A valid email address
  • Age
  • Country of residency
  • Level of employment
  • Level of studies

To validate their registration, the Participant must accept the Governing Rules, the Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions. Failure to accept these will prohibit the completion of the official registration forms.

A confirmation email containing an activation link is sent to the Participant's listed email address.

The Challenge will be released on the Platform. Additionally, to the Challenge, Participants may have access to data and materials to help them with participation.

In order to be selected to participate in the Global Finals, The Participants will be invited to complete two main challenges that will test various skills as follows:

Challenge 01

Will require Participants to submit a 1-min video or a maximum 6-slide carousel presenting their idea as per the following instructions: "Reimagine the corporate world your way. If you could create your ideal workplace, how would you make it more inspiring, creative and meaningful to you."

The Participants are invited to use any digital tool of their choice, including AI, to help them ideate and present the idea.

Challenge 02

Will require Participants to record a 2-minute video introducing themselves and sharing their motivation for participating in Make It Bright.

Judging Criteria

These two challenges will require manual assessment by the JTI Jury. The Jury will check all the submissions and assign points manually based on the quality of the submissions, and as per the below criteria:

Challenge 01 Judging Criteria

  • Depth & original thinking (max 200 points): The idea is original, thoughtful, and brings something new to the current ways of working.
  • Creativity & digital skills (max 200 points): The Participant made the most of their favorite apps & tools, and used the features to express their creativity.
  • Clarity & communication (max 100 points): The idea is presented in a clear, well-structured way that's easy to understand and follow.

Challenge 02 Judging Criteria

  • Motivation (max 300 points): The Participant shows a genuine understanding of Make It Bright, explains why you want to join, and describes what you hope to gain from this experience.
  • Communication skills (max 100 points): The Participants introduced themselves in a clear, structured and engaging way.
  • Creativity (max 100 points): The Participant added a personal touch to their video using visuals, sound, transitions, or any other creative effects.

The final points collected for the two challenges will be communicated directly to each Participant via Platform by the end of January 2026.

Mini Boosters (Optional)

In addition to the two main challenges, Participants will have the opportunity to take part in three optional mini boosters, which can get them extra points and increase their chances of being selected for the Global Finals.

  • Mini Booster 01: Quiz format, testing the familiarity with JTI. The points will be assigned automatically (20 points per each correct answer).
  • Mini Booster 02: Connected to the content available on the Platform, this open format question will require the Participants to shortly describe their personal brand. The points will be assigned automatically as per the following criteria: Understanding of the task (max 30 points) and Thoughtfulness and detail (max 30 points).
  • Mini Booster 03: Connected to the content available on the Platform, this quiz format will test the knowledge of AI. The points will be assigned automatically (20 points per each correct answer).

All two (2) challenges and three (3) optional mini boosters must be completed by December 31st, 2025, on the Make It Bright Challenge Instagram page. Mini boosters will expire 24 hours after being initiated by the Participants while the two main challenges don't have any time limitation.

All deliverables submitted to JTI in connection with the Challenges must be in English. All deliverables shall comply with other conditions set forth in the Governing Rules, including but not limited Expected Behavior and Intellectual Property Rights.

Step 2: Finalist Announcement & Preparation for the Global Finals

After the Challenge is closed and the Jury completes the manual assessment, top 12 Participants ("Finalists") will be announced on the Platform in January 2026, and personal invitation to join the Global Finals event will be sent. JTI team will be in touch with the Finalists in order to provide them with all the details for the Global Finals and arrange the trip to Barcelona.

Step 3: The Global Finals

The Finalists will be invited to join the Global Finals event happening in March 2026, in Barcelona, Spain. The exact date will be confirmed and communicated accordingly on the Platform.

Participation to the Global Finals will be subject to obtaining a valid permit/VISA for Spain, if required. The selected Participant will be accountable for providing all the necessary documents to request the Spanish visa, and submit the application promptly, with the support of JTI team, in order to join the Global Finals event in person.

We require the Finalists to attend the Global Finals event in person. Online participation will not be accepted. If Participant cannot attend physically the Global Finals for whatever reason, JTI reserves the right to disqualify them and select another Participant, as per the Challenge results leaderboard. The choice will be made at JTI's full discretion. In case of disqualification, no payment or any compensation will be made in lieu.

4. Evaluating Criteria

During The Global Finals event, the Jury will be assessing the 12 Finalists based on the criteria that will be communicated to them upon arrival.

5. Prizes

The top 2 winning Participants will win a 6-month paid internship position at JTI. In addition to the mentioned main prize, the winning Participants will also receive Apple devices and more prizes which will be communicated during the Global Finals.

JTI will help submit the visa and work permit application for the global internship program. The travelling expenses (flight tickets and/or train tickets, transfer costs between airport/train station and the hotel or offices, visa application fees) and the accommodation for the global internship program will be covered by JTI. JTI will oversee the booking at its sole discretion and payment related to the travelling expenses for this prize.

In case of disqualification or withdrawal of any number of Participants, the Governing Rules apply to the award or return of the prize.

6. Internships

Global Internship Program

The winners will be invited for a 6-month paid global internship program and will get the opportunity to work in JTI office ideally not located in their countries of participation. Depending on local regulation and administrative requirements, JTI reserves its rights to determine the location in due course.

The deadline to begin the global internship program is tentatively September 2026, and will depend on case-by-case circumstances. Failure to join on or before this date by the participants will entitle JTI to withdraw from the global internship program.

JTI will select, at its discretion, the location/department for each Participant who won the global internship program. Details of the global internship program conditions will be disclosed later.

Local Internship

During any steps of the Challenge, Participant might be invited to apply for the local internship in JTI in the country of participation. Each country offering a local internship will, at its own discretion, choose how and when they will run the selection process. Timings, conditions and quantity of interns required will vary by country.

7. Amendment of the Rules

We may be required to amend these rules inter alia to comply with any new legislation and/or applicable regulations. Any amendment shall be integrated within these rules and shall be published on the Platform. If any clause hereunder is declared null or void, it shall have no impact on the validity of the Official Rules themselves.
